The Hand You're Dealt
The Line of 5
All 5 beauties in this light up deck will entail a different and unique loving suggestion of a cause you can support, by referencing a global awareness project or non profit that offers resources to those in need. The mission is to promote healthy communication efforts, radical self acceptance in hopes of promoting and adding some forward motion for healthier hearts and minds. Our childhood impacts our adult life and experiences to great length. We all deserve the tools to understand the things that cause us pain, and ultimately learn the personal tools needed to live a happier, more balanced lifestyle.
Our lives lead us down separate paths and we all have our own journey. We chose the 5 stages and causes that seemed to be most prominent in personal experience, but we are always open to suggestions and interested in helping as many organizations as we can, and especially those suffering.
Here are the candles and causes we made thus far:
I. The Black Rock
Please consider checking out chill.org with this candle in promotion of healthy youth development. This candle has a special place in our hearts and will aim to promote suicide awareness and resources.
II. The Motherland
Unhealed traumas, carrying out the pain of our mothers, and disregarding shame with blame while trying to sweep shadow work aside, can cause a lot of unconscious pain. This lives inside the body, and can sadly become a direct link to disease, stress and many other life altering health complications, even cancer. We lovingly suggest you check out cancerschmancer.org to support this very special organization and movement.
III. The Sequin Cowboy
The Sequin Cowboy is all about healing the pressures placed upon "the golden boy."
The Sequin Cowboy is inspired by the constraints of familial and societal pressure that we typically see placed upon young boys and men. Our cowboy candle is our velvet Elvis: inspired by the hope we can all start normalizing men's emotions, sensitivities and emotional health needs equally. The stigma suggesting male emotion is equivalent to expressing weakness is not only false, but also an unachievable expectation perpetuating internal anger, fear and inability to feel safe in being oneself.
Vulnerability is something we believe should be available to everyone to live their most authentic, happy and purpose-filled life.
Please consider checking out gumbootfriday.nz.org to help promote and raise awareness for free kids counseling and resources to children in need.
IV. In The Raw
In The Raw is based on the idea that once you realize your making, your upbringing, the constraints, pressures, burdens and wounds that were not actually yours to own or hold, your can be free.
This is a burn about the knowing that the very wounds, trials and tribulations that broke you will cause you to be in immense pain, inevitably, but you can get to that place when you get to see for the first time. This clarity teaches you that these fucked up unfair past traumas are also your wins because you overcame. The very things that will make you who you’re meant to be are the things that formerly broke you down. Knowledge of our past is our superpower. Once you fill your wounds with loving acceptance and knowledge, they are your abusers’ worst nightmare.
It’s a sort of stripped down to nothing moment where everything is yet to come. It’s painful to revisit and honor one’s past but it’s really exciting to know you get to recreate a better future undefined by anyone else’s intrusion on and violations on your life.
It’s a candle of rebirth, and based upon the idea that once you feel through and heal these hard life traumas and adversities, your life doesn’t have to be over. In fact, it’s just about to start.
Not all of us get so lucky to make it to that rebirth phase after immense pain in adversity and we suggest in honor of Daisy Colemann, you consider checking out safebae.org as well as rainn.org for resources and knowledge many of us need but don't always know how to ask for.
V. A Bunny is Born
A Bunny is Born is our celebratory explosions candle! Based on the final scene in Meet Joe Black, where death knows his place and time has come to a close in its 3D experience. It’s the idea that your whole future awaits and from the greatest adversities, can come the most beautiful rebirths, the kind you get to create all your own from rock bottom is unlike any other as it often exposes your true self, and your passion.
We could all use a reminder now and again that we can reframe our thoughts and perhaps imagine how it feels to say we get to heal as privilege, vs. having to as an unwanted burden. Overcoming great hurdles and adversities teach us who we are and unlock our passions of most importance. This rebirth candle is meant to celebrate all you are, all you uniquely overcome to be where you're at today, and hopefully, this experience can offer many of us the ability to actively love ourselves more often. What's past may be painful for many of us, though that pain does not have to dictate the meaning and energy of our future.
We believe it's OK to be at peace with celebrating yourself no matter where you're at in your journey and the hope is that we can provide resources to help others access their own tools through life's traumas and adversities to feel and believe the same.
